There is one mistake many people are making when it comes to how they store their eggs.
Eggs are a super handy ingredient to have as they go in numerous recipes and are also great on their own for a quick meal.
While they tend to have a decent shelf life, there may be certain things you’re doing that could be prolonging or shortening how long they last.
Most fridges have an egg storage compartment on the door, however, this could actually be doing your eggs more harm than good.
While eggs are better refrigerated, the temperature on the door tends to be warmer than other parts of the fridge from the constant opening and closing.

“For all perishable foods, including eggs and egg-containing dishes, allow no more than two hours at room temperature for preparation and serving, 30 minutes to one hour when it’s 85°F or hotter.”
Additionally, while most foods can be frozen to make them last longer, eggs are not one of them.
Freezing raw eggs in the shell causes the water content inside to expand, which will likely break the shells and allow bacteria to penetrate the shell, increasing the risk of contamination.
